What if no one is watching it?
Engagement:
Consequences
Forethought:
Still Watch:
- Still key, this hasn’t changed.
Consequences
- They sit out the game, simulation, etc.
- Grade random formative assessments
- Let them know you’ll quiz first thing the next day
- Have alternative assignments that force them to learn the information in a less interesting way = reading from the book, etc.
- Call parents = same as not doing homework (can phrase as not taking notes)
Forethought:
- Give them several nights to watch the video, with reminders of course.
- Create lesson plans where you have time to talk to students that might have missed the video, so they know enough to work on activity.
- Create ‘free’ time in the lesson plan where students can work on what they need to, which mean watching the video for tomorrow.
Still Watch:
- Always require a student to still watch the video. Lets them know it’s important.
